120MPH

Racing down this road
at 120mph
we’re speeding through time,
faces blur, words slur
forgotten days, forgotten weeks;

we’re speeding through time
at 120mph
I hope we don’t get caught
by the blue flashing light;

we’re speeding through time
at 120mph
just you and I in the front seat
touching now and then;

we’re speeding, we’re flying
we’re defying the rules,
until you throw this car
into full reverse;

we’re back, back on Monday
dull, dreary Monday,
you’ve broken my trance
thrown me into reverse
brakes on, strapped in;

we’re no standing still,
drifting apart,
we’re further and further away
you’ve put the brakes on
and I’m back on Monday.

Back on Monday.
