Back in Time
Weak winter light
seeps into my room,
the twitter of december birds
wake me on a cold morning,
a blanket of white frost reminds me
of the cold bitterness that awaits me.
Snuggling beneath the covers I close my eyes
and remember yesterday,
the joy and laughter,
the lightness and warmness
and gentleness I received.
I squeeze my eyes tightly, eliminating light
and I live in the past;
I remember the gentle kisses,
the possessiveness in your gaze,
the tender hugs and
your loving touches,
I am at peace.
The outside world calls,
the present overpowers the past
and slowly my eyes open,
to a cold winter morning;
it is time to wake and begin another day,
I’ll come back soon
and treasure our beautiful time
in the hope that I’ll forget today and
lose myself in the past.
